This new area is a 2 day dedicated area of workshops, talks and practical activities showing how citizens of all ages, classes, ethnicity and gender can get involved in the movements against climate change and particpate in practical workshops to equip and inspire themselves with the skills to move towards a greener low carbon future.

This area will be run and organized in partnership with the Civic Trust Heritage Skills Initiative and the North East region’s Transition Towns movement We want as many people as possible to take away from this year’s Festival the knowledge and skills to understand not only why but how they can start to move towards a low carbon future. The ‘Green Future’ Area will not only educate and inform through workshops and discussions but also involve people in the actual construction of wind turbines, lime plaster making, green woodworking, 12volt renewable power systems, stone carving, charcoal powered blacksmithing and pottery making and solar power toy making.
